Wednesday 1 January - Making New Year's Day fun!

Current location: Erskineville
11.11am, Making smoothies at home with my new blender! I'll admit that New Year's Day for me usually involves trying to get home from wherever I spent New Year's Eve (last year at my friend Emma's, the other side of London to where I lived!) and then staying inside and nursing a hangover. Today was different!

Yes, there remnants of a hangover lurking around, but we saw them off with a smoothie and omelette, then a walk and a swim at Bronte beach made the hangover a distant memory. I love sea swimming!

Feeling rejuvenated, we went back home and got ready to go out to Govindas. It's a really awesome little restaurant in Darlinghurst, which also has a cinema upstairs. The cinema is very chilled (you lie on daybeds as you watch the film) and as well as new films, it also shows ones that have just left the cinema elsewhere. This was the reason we were going - a film that Andy worked on in the UK, How I Live Now, had been released in Australia recently but we hadn't managed to catch it, so luckily we got to see it tonight.

It may not have been as exciting for Andy as the London premiere would have been  but it was so nice to go together and see the film. It was so good, and scary, and beautiful, and when Andy's name came up at the end we all whooped and hollered! Go Andy! It was a fab film and you should definitely try and see it if possible...and look for the name spot at the end!

The other awesome thing about Govindas is that they have a veggie all-you-can-eat buffet after the film has ended too, so we indulged in that and went home feeling full, happy, and with just enough excitement left to go for a drink with our friends Jen and Jossi who are visiting. What a busy and brill New Year's Day!
