Saturday 24 January – Beaches, picnic, inappropriate games

Current location: Erskineville
11.11pm, Playing Cards Against Humanity. Totes inappropes but very fun. It was the end of a long, outdoorsy day; this morning, Andy and I went to Maroubra and had a swim and a sunbathe, then in the afternoon, he went to a gig and I went for a run to Mrs Macquarie's Chair, where I met the others for a picnic with a view. We wanted to carry on the hangtime, so we all went back to ours to play controversial card games. Love it.

Friday 23 January – Marys and home

Current location: Newtown
11.11pm, Being walked home by Rochy and Juler, my lovely friends. We'd been out for a burger at Marys, and then a drink at the Midnight Social in Newtown. My friend Yee and I went to the beach straight after work as it was such a scorcher and we needed a swim, so I was just going to go home, but I'm glad I decided to join the others in Newtown. A lovely, long, chilled evening that makes work seem like so long ago!

Thursday 22 January – #Hashtag

Current location: Erskineville
11.11pm, Making my way home the Social Diary 10-year party. The theme was 'Hashtag', and I dressed in 80s clothing (#throwbackthursday). Five of us from work went and it was SO MUCH FUN. There were heaps of amazing costumes there (lots of #freethenipple) and all free food and drinks. Plus I won a $200 nail voucher. What a fun party and silly times with lovely people.

Wednesday 21 January – Hell yes!!

Current location: Eveleigh
11.11am, Picking up flowers that had just been delivered... From Bree. With the loveliest note ever.

Sunday 18 January – Avoca with my homeboys

Current location: Avoca Beach
11.11am, On our way, a bit late, to meet some friends. Becky is my friend from home, who I grew up with from about the age of 14. She is a diamond of a girl, and I was so excited to see her and meet her little boy Albie, who is an absolute champ. We had the best day with them, in the markets, on the beach and in the water, and I already miss them!

Saturday 17 January – Games galore

Current location: Ettalong Beach
11.11pm, Playing Jenga. It was the end of a beautiful and long day of beaching in the hot hot heat. We went to Little Beach and played some cricket, then came home and played some croquet, then ate ourselves silly and played Jenga.

Friday 16 January – Friday fun

Current location: Ettalong Beach
11.11pm, On the verandah, having a wine. Jess, Mitch and I decided to come up the coast tonight and see Colin and Christabel, who are staying at Dave and Val's (so many people!). We got up after work in time for a swim and a wine and some dinner. And, relax...

Thursday 15 January – Excited. Very excited

Current location: Alexandria
11.11pm, Jumping around. I just bought flights home for two weeks over Christmas!!! I really missed home this Christmas, so am SO glad I'm not going to miss another one. I know you're not supposed to wish your life away but roll on yuletide!

(Picture from my last Cornish Christmas!)

Tuesday 13 January – Reunited with ma sista

Current location: Alexandria
11.11pm, On the way home from the pub. Andy and I had been out with Chrystal, who I worked with until Friday, and her husband Marc. We were meant to be coming up with fundraising ideas for our upcoming Coastrek, but were actually just laughing, drinking and being silly. Good people.

Monday 12 January – Start with week with a coastal retreat

Current location: Ettalong Beach
11.11pm, Asleep. As is my way when we're up the coast, I don't stay up late! We'd had a lovely dinner with dave and Val, Andy had gone off to play football and then I had an early night. Starting the week with a bang!

Sunday 11 January – Rain, rain, stay indoors

Current location: Alexandria
11.11am, Not doing much. Had a lie-in. Made some breakfast. Watched some TV. Had a coffee. Tried to make plans. Rain foiled them all. The afternoon got a bit more exciting, when we went to see Colin and Christabel; then in the evening, we went to Nick and Bree's for some dinner and a very comedy game of Articulate. Very chilled, lovely Sunday.

Saturday 10 January - Wedding dress shopping!

Current location: Centennial Park
11.11am, Running. This morning I rode to Bree's house, then she, Jess and I went for a very hot, very difficult run around Centennial Park. In urgent need of cooling off, we then went to Bondi for a swim, before coming home, getting ready and hitting the shops. An impromptu stroll up Oxford Street saw Breezer trying on some beautiful potential wedding dresses..and then the actual wedding dress! She'd seen it online, tried it on, and it was blood beautiful. No details revealed here of course, but safe to say, she's going to look stunning.
So we celebrated with champagne and then as the evening arrived, headed to the Union in Newtown for some dinner and to catch up with friends. What an action-packed, fun-filled, productive day!

Friday 9 January - Chrystal's last day

Current location: Eveleigh
11.11am, In work, sitting next to Chrystal for the last time :( Today is her last day and I'm very sad to say bye but very excited she's going onto a fab new role at TV Week.
We had a fun day of a lovely lunch at Bitton, then drinks and speeches (and tears) in the offices, then onto the Bearded Tit pub in Redfern (highly recommended). It was such a fun night, but feels a bit weird saying bye to someone I'll be seeing on Tuesday for drinks, then the week after for a walk, etc etc. Knowing our friendship, although started at work, is now nothing to do with working together is lovely, as I know we'll be in each other's lives forever, but not seeing her all day every day is going to suck! Love you sister! x

Monday 5 January - Run out

Current location: Alexandria
11.11pm, Fast asleep. I'd been asleep for about an hour and a half, thanks to going for an extra long run and tiring myself out! I thought it was only about 3km to Wentworth Park so, listening to the first epsiode of podcast Serial (I'm now addicted), off I went. When I got back (two epsiodes later), I realised I'd run further than I've ever probably run before. Shattered!

Sunday 4 January – Best staycation ever!

Current location: Darlinghurst
11.11am, At Una's. It's one of our favourite breakfast spots, not least because it's an Austrian place and they do amazing rosti. Jess, Nick, Bree, Andy, Colin and Christabel all met there, and then most of headed off to Malabar to go for a swim off the rocks. This week has really been about visiting new places, and discovering parts of Sydney I didn't know existed. Malabar was simply beautiful, and the sea was the perfect temperature… even if there were a few sea urchins to watch out for! The last few days have been so hot and sticky, and I have really appreciated being near the sea to cool off!
After Malabar, we went to the Meat Emporium, where you walk around a giant freezer and buy really good meat. Loved it.

Sadly, the end of our staycation is close, so we rode our bikes home, and did some cleaning and organising for the week ahead. I feel really sad this week has ended; I've absolutely adored spending so much time with our amazing friends and Andy, and making the most of Sydney at its finest!
