Friday 15 June – Dartmoor weekend

Current location: Penzance

11.11am, Swimming with Kate. We did 30 laps of the pool (I think she did 40 actually; she’s much faster than me!), had a coffee then I headed home and packed for our weekend away. We drove to Dartmoor, where 8 of our friends had hired a gorgeous big house in the middle of the countryside. The evening involved making a yummy pasta dinner, watching some football and having some drinks, plus playing all the games (table tennis, basketball, football) in the giant garden.

Thursday 14 June – A Boy Called Ocean

Current location: Penzance
11.11am, At my mum’s book launch! She is incredible. She has written 24 books, and the newest one comes out today! It’s a teen fiction story about a boy who drifts out to sea on a surfboard, and it’s amazing. What’s also amazing is that Mum stood up in front of hundreds of people today for her launch event, telling them about the book and hosting a panel with RNLI lifeboatmen and lifeguards. The evening launch was at Edge of the World bookshop, and involved more wine and fewer children, but was just as awesome. Then the family went for dinner at Singing Rooster and had a lovely celebratory evening, complete with cake, bunting and bubbles.

Wednesday 13 June – Bye bye little love

Current location: Penzance
11.11am, At work, feeling sad. Little Livvy left this morning (her dad Mitch came to pick her up!) and I miss her very much! It was so fun having a little buddy to play with all the time. In the evening, Andy and I very much went back to ‘not having children’ life, where we both went to play sport (this has been very much neglected while Liv was here) and ate a late dinner.

Tuesday 12 June – Day off of fun!

Current location: Penzance

11.11am, At the library. Livvy and I were at song time (not its official name) and she was causing havoc until I fed her blueberries. This morning, Andy and I went to the park with her, then I went to the library and met Lily and Toby. A very short nap (Livvy) later, we went over to Ruth’s and played in her garden. It was so sunny and hot and we sat with a beer and marvelled at how well the kids were playing in the paddling pool for all of about three minutes until they decided not to anymore. I have love love loved having this little one to stay.

Monday 11 June - Working auntie

Current location: Penzance
11.11am, At work, while Andy and Livvy went to the park. I saw them at lunchtime, then Liv and Andy went to my mum’s house, where the Pyrah kids were, so they all got to hang out, play on the swings, play in the sprinkler, have fun and hang out. I went over after work, joined in the fun, then brought Livvy home for dinner and bedtime.

Sunday 10 June – Days with kids

Current location: Mousehole

11.11am, On the beach. We had a pretty chilled morning, playing at home, then met Ruth, James and Ruan at the beach, where the kids played in the water and with rocks, shells and crab-cups. Livvy had a nap and then in the afternoon we went to Marazion to play in the park and find rocks on the beach. Then it was off to Pip’s house to play on the trampoline and hang with the Pyrahs. Then dinner-bath-bedtime, and Andy and I had a quiet night.
