Thursday 15 April - Happy holidays!

11.11am, Playing at the caravan park. It has a big basketball court, loads of play equipment, so we played all morning with the kids, just enjoying being an auntie and uncle again! We decided to go exploring after a while, and drove over to a 'pirate' beach, which had a 'smugglers tunnel' leading down to it. The kids loved it (so did we!) and we hung out there for lunch and lots of the afternoon. Afterwards, we scooted down the hill to the beach at Shaldon and got a boat across the water to Teignmouth. It was a super sunny day, and it really felt like we were on holiday! Embracing the holiday vibe, we ate ice creams and hung at the park for the afternoon, before scooting back the long way around.

By the time we got back to the other side of the river, we decided to stop at the pub for cider and chips! Such a holiday feel today. As it crept towards evening, we headed back to the caravan park... where we discovered the keys to our caravans/holiday homes were in the cars... back at the first beach we went to. So while Claire and Andy got doughnuts for everyone and kept the kids entertained, Matt and I speed-scooted back to the beach and picked up the cars. Phew! Long day, just enough time left to speed-drink a wine, then off to sleep.

Wednesday 14 April – Leaving Cornwall!

11.11am, In Somerset! Yes, this deserves exclamation marks! I think it's the first time we have left Cornwall since July 2020, when we went to Cat's wedding in Kent. Since then, lockdowns and restrictions have banned it (we did get an amazing holiday in September to the Isles of Scilly, which is still part of Cornwall). Today Andy and I drove up to Somerset where I had a few work meetings, as I am now officially based out of Somerset. It was so nice to actually meet and see real work-related people! I also saw one of my work besties, Laura, and we had a 'working lunch' in a beer garden over a burger and a cider! Eeee it felt so exciting but also just lovely and normal.

After lunch, I was officially on annual leave, as Andy and I have a holiday in Devon booked. We are meeting my sister Claire and her family and all staying in a caravan part in Shaldon (as you're only allowed to stay in self-contained places). We got to Shaldon, checked in, and then all met up!! Ahhh the first time since October last year that I've seen my nieces and nephew! The munchkins were amazing, it was so exciting, and we then all played on the beach a bit and went for a big walk.

When we got home, Andy and I ate some prawns and veggies, then went outside Claire and Matt's chalet to have some drinks (not allowed inside with anyone outside your household yet). It was freezing but so nice just to chat and catch up and start the holiday with a smile.

Sunday 11 April – Picnics and birthdays

11.11am, At the Laitys in Angarrack. We had a picnic lunch (roast chicken and salad) and toasted marshmallows (and I accident toasted part of my shoe!) and soaked up the sunshine. In the afternoon, Andy and I went to Lamorna for a short walk and a swim (it was freeeeezing but so beautiful!) and then to the Pyrah for pizza for Vinny's birthday. My first nephew is 14, whaaat?!

Saturday 10 April – Gang back together

11.11am, Home and drinking coffee on the couch. Every Saturday morning I go for a run, and this week, thanks to restrictions lifting, we are able to run with more than one other person, so five of us ran together! So strange to even have to think about things like this now.
