Monday 13 August – Vin's first sleepover

Current location: Penzance
11.11am, Back at work, pretty tired after such a fun weekend. I met Ri and Rog for lunch at The Front Room, before they headed back on the train to London, and then my nephew Vinny came round. We went cliff jumping in the evening, and had burgers and sausages, then watched a film. Then stayed up until 11pm! (That deserves an exclamation mark when you're only 11 years old.) Vinny stayed for a sleepover and he was such a star.

Sunday 12 August – Cheeky drinks

Current location: Mousehole
11.11am, Having a quick, cold swim. Andy and I went to Mousehole for a dip with our friend Charlie but it was freezing and a bit gross so we didn't stay in for too long. We came home and hung out with Ri and Rog, tried to go for a walk but it rained so we went to the Yacht for a drink and made plans for the evening. Ri, Rog and I finally popped over to The Cornish Barn (Ri has been dying to go there since she arrived) for a cheeky Sunday arvo wine and ping pong in the beer garden, then came home for beef bourguignon. Then the four of us walked to Mousehole (about 5 miles) along the coast path, where we randomly and sadly saw a dead turtle on the beach, until we got to the pub we were meeting friends at to do the pub quiz. Our two teams came 4th and 6th (out of 12), then came back to ours for a final drink. What a fun Sunday eve!

Saturday 11 August – Rainy rambles

Current location: Zennor
11.11am, Walking in the rain. It was actually so nice! We'd met up with some of Ri and Rog's friends, and walked from the Tinner's Arms to the Gurnard's Head along the coast path. It was mainly rainy, but then the sun came out, and we made it to the Gurnards for a wine and some chips! It was so cosy and lovely.
We came back to Penzance and had a couple of hours of chilling out (watching netball/napping/chatting), then Ri and Rog went out for dinner with some friends in St Ives, while I stayed home and did some freelance work.

Friday 10 August – Exploring beaches and bars

Current location: Penzance
11.11am, Having a long and slow brekky with our fiends Ri and Rog who are visiting. They got in late last night so we were in no hurry to get moving this morning, and instead just sat around enjoying each other's company!
In the afternoon we went over to Marazion for a walk and to wander across the Causeway to the Mount. We timed it quite wrong as so as soon as we got there we realised the tide had come in and we'd have to get a boat back. But that was lovely! We had a pasty and then headed home for a bit, before going over to Mousehole. Andy had to go to work but Rog and I had a swim, and we met up with Ruth, Eve, James and Ruan, and then went for a quick drink at the Old Coastguard, just in time for the sun to come out.
The evening brought a delish Thai dinner at Sukothai (where we managed to break an entire bottle of wine on the floor) and then drinks at the Benbow. I love that weird, quirky, fun little pub so much, and so did Ri!

Thursday 9 August – Dreaming of dreaming

Current location: Portreath
11.11am, Making dreamcatchers! I was at a workshop for Wed Magazine, in a lovely yurt at Gwel an Mor, with my lovely boss, eating caramel shortbread and drinking coffee. My job is excellent sometimes!

The rest of the day was pretty busy, with an afternoon of work, then a quick pop out to Sennen with Ruth to see Nicky, Rambo and baby Lorna who are camping above Gwenver, then to Pippa's to babysit. When they got home at about 11.30pm, I went to Tesco for a shop, and then at about 12.45pm, I went to the train station to pick up some friends who were arriving for the weekend. After dropping them all off in various places, I took two of them, Ri and Rog, home with me and we all finally fell asleep.

Sunday 5 August – One of those days

Current location: Penzance
11.11am, At Battery Rocks, having a swim. It's a beautiful morning, so after I did some freelance work (I got up at 6am! On a Sunday!) Andy and I had brekky then wandered over to some gardens near our house, where Andy had found some ping pong tables! We played for a bit in the sunshine, then went for a swim and a read by the sea. Such a dreamy morning. We spent the afternoon hanging out at Pippa's with her family and new puppy Nancy, then after a very relaxed late afternoon (which included an accidental sofa nap!), we went over to Gwenver. Andy went for a late evening surf, while I read my book, then we both had a wine on the beach and chatted to our friend Rich who turned up. One of those amazing Cornish days.
