Saturday 8 May – Curry party

11.11pm, Sharing a lot of curry with Al, Rich, Ruth and James. We had a fab and funny evening, with so much food (including double-ordering from two takeaways).

Sunday 2 May – Meeting on the cliffs!

11.11am, Heading towards Leedstown to meet some netball friends for lunch. We were going for a roast but it was actually a scorcher of a day, it was lovely! Afterwards I drove up to near Rock, where my friend Emily is staying. We met, had a walk, hung on the cliffs/rocks/beach with her friends, swam in the sea, and overall had a lush time just catching up and being together. Gorgeous girl.

Saturday 1 May – Babes and beaches

11.11am, Home to get showered after a run with Pippa. Such a beautiful morning, then we went for lunch with Mum at Jubilee Pool cafe. In the afternoon, Andy and I went to Pedney for a swim and a walk, a different way to normal (including me getting lost and stuck in brambles)… gorgeous Cornwall day.

Friday 30 April – Run/swim in spring

11.11am, Planning my weekly Friday run/swim with Carly. We try to go every Friday, and those winter swims were pretty chilly (we started in January). However, today, the sun was shining, the sea was gorgeous and it was all pretty darn great!

Wednesday 28 April – Back to my happy place

11.11pm, Fast asleep, tired out, happy. Netball training has started again and I couldn’t be happier. Almost three years since I was last playing, and five since I was consistently playing properly before knees got weird. Nowhere makes me happier than being on a netball court!

Sunday 25 April – Birthday beers

11.11am, Replanning. We were meant to be going to Gurnards Head for James’ birthday today but they called to say it was too windy. So we quickly replanned for Cornish Barn, and sat in the sun-trap beer garden and ate delish food. Andy and I properly embraced being in a bar (instead of our house) and worked our way through the cocktail menu. Loads of ‘normal’ fun!

Saturday 24 April – Bestie barbecue

11.11am, On our way up to Nicky’s. She’s moved up near Wadebridge and we haven’t seen her new place yet, and today – a gorgeous sunny Saturday – she invited us up for a barbie. Their home is so lovely with loads of land/garden, and as the sun stayed out all day, so did we. We ate amazing food, the wine flowed all day, and the best bit was just seeing each other again.

Saturday 17 April – Long overdue hangs

11.11am, On a train! Claire and I decided to take the kids on the train to Dawlish, it's such a scenic part of the railway along the coast, and the kids were very excited! Andy and Matt went to see a skate park they'd been eyeing up, then met us over in Dawlish Warren, where Claire, the kids and I were hanging at the beach. It was a really gorgeous morning, and as the day drew on, Andy and I had to leave to go and meet Emma and Brodie. It was sad saying bye to them, I have had the absolute best time with these little legends, there's so much love and fun among them, and I can't wait to see them again next month.

We met Emma, Brodie and little Jesse on Dartmoor an hour later, and went for a walk up to a gorgeous viewpoint where you could see all over the moors, the south coast and down to the sea. It was blinking beautiful! Then we headed back to theirs for a barbecue in their very cool garden/field, eating jacket potatoes, sausages and wild plants from their garden! It's so magic to see them. As it got to evening, we drove back to Cornwall, our hearts and souls full again.

Friday 16 April – More coastal exploring

11.11am, Playing mini golf in Teignmouth. I haven't played for years and it was so fun (I was pretty rubbish, Meggy hated it, and the dinosaurs watched on!). Mum and Dad are coming up to meet us/the Harrisons today, so I had a run in the morn, then we all met in the park, and had a coffee while the kids played. Then Andy and I headed off for a coast path walk, to a spot called Hope's Nose. It was a scorcher of a lovely day! When we got back to Shaldon, we found a pub with a beer garden on a beach, ordered some hot dogs and a cider... and then spotted the Harrisons and M&D all playing about 10 metres from us! So after our drinks we went down to the beach for a play, then went to try to find a cafe. It's hard at the moment as you're not allowed indoors, and everywhere with outdoor space is understandably v busy, so we ended up just sitting and playing in the park.

Mum and Dad headed off as the evening drew in, and then the rest of us headed back to the caravan site, ordered an Indian takeaway and over-ate for an hour or two. Claire has been swimming every day of the holiday, and was keen for a night-time dip, so we went down and got in! It was so surreal and beautiful swimming in a calm river under the stars, and it was a really special moment that will stay in my memories!
