Tuesday 26 October - End of the line

11.11am, Heading back to the car to drive home after our epic holiday! This morning we mainly just packed up and ate brekky, then went for a cuppa and a walk on the beach. I convinced Emily to come with me for the drive home (she was supposed to be cycling) so we went via Chesil Beach, Emily’s bro’s house and her dad’s house. Then I had a trafficky/boring last couple of hours, heading straight to my Walking Netball session… then finally got home to unpack, washing on, dinner on..and crash out!

Monday 25 October – Pounding the streets

11.11am, Having a coffee in Poundbury. What a funny old town (well, a new town, purpose-built on Prince Charles’ land, it’s ‘unauthentically nostalgic’). We’d come to meet Emma, Brodie, Jesse and little newborn Leo, and we had the loveliest day. The rain stayed away today thank goodness, so we had a coffee and a walk, then a yummy outdoor lunch, another walk and lots of cuddles and playing. So ace to catch up with this beautiful family and have most of our uni girls back together (if Maden had been there it would have been perfect). We were pretty tired out when we got home, so we all had a bit of quiet/reading/nap time, then got tup for the evening, cracked open some drinks and walked along the seafront into Weymouth for burgers! Home for more chats - every night on this holiday we have stayed up so ate just chatting into the night and I could not love it more.

Sunday 24 October – Blustery and beautiful

11.11am, Sitting around in our beautiful holiday home, drinking cups of tea and looking at the lovely sunny weather. We are just loving having time to catch up and see each other properly after the past weird 1.5 years. Emily and I had gone for a walk this morning along the seafront and through the RSPB reserve (where we got told off by a lady for not walking single-file!) and then we had a slow and lazy rest of morning. Just before lunch we drove over to Lulworth Cove, and as we stepped out the car it began to rain. Undeterred, we had a gorgeous very windy walk down to Lulworth Cove then over the cliffs to Durdle Door. What a cool part of the coastline! It was properly raining at this point and the hilly walk back was very soggy, so we sacked off our original plan of going to the pub, and instead stopped at a shop to get roast dinner ingredients, and went home for an epic evening of food, drinks, and alllllll the chats and LOLs (including a hilarious update on Emily’s neighbours).

Saturday 23 October – Starting and ending strong

11.11am, Packing. This morning I went for a yummy brunch with my running friends (not that I join in the running part any more!). We went to Duke St Cafe and had a big old brekky and lots of long-overdue chats, before I got ready to head off to Dorset. I’m going on a holiday with my uni girls (most of them), and I had a nice drive up in the sunshine, arriving at about 5pm. Our holiday home is lovely, so I got unpacked, sorted out our online shop (very organised now compared with holidays in our 20s!) and waited for the others to arrive. Emily got there first and we had a couple of drinks and then Sarah and Cat arrived, and our holiday had officially begun! A gorgeous evening of fajitas, drinks, ALL the chats, a late night and a long sleep. Perfect.

Friday 22 October – Music and murmurations

11.11pm, On our way home from St Ives. Amazing Andy is doing more very cool things with his murmurations videos, and tonight they accompanied a show by an incredible musician/friend called Bean Downes, over at Holan in St Ives. It was mesmerising and lovely, and actually pretty zen-like for a Friday night!

Sunday 17 October – Playing and partying

11.11am, Doing some art. Louis had watched a program about creating art with watercolours and salt, so we decided to give it a go. This morning had been quite relaxed, with lots of playing around the house as it was tipping it down, and then we decided to carve a pumpkin. Louis wanted a cat, Anna a monster and Meggy just wanted to paint it, so it was a bit of a mish-mash (but Andy did very well with chopping all the desired shapes!). Claire and Matt came back at about midday, and we had a lovey couple of hours having lunch and going through some baby bits, before Andy and I hit the road. In the evening we had a gorgeous evening at the ‘welcome/opening/party’ of Newlyn Fermentary, an ace new business right in front of our flat.

Saturday 16 October – Harrison holidays

11.11am, Playing. Claire and Matt left mid-morning to have a night away, and we hung out at home and played with the kids. Then we packed up and went for a walk/cycle into Stroud, via parks and canals and lots of snacks. When we got to Stroud, the kids were pretty tired out so we refuelled with an epic hot chocolate (I had a very boring peppermint tea as I am trying to cut down on sugar) and then got some ingredients to make some Halloween treats back home. We got a bus back (very exciting for little Meggy!) and then made some ‘brain cakes’ (pink Rice Krispie cakes that the kids decorated with spooky sweets) and Andy rustled up some epic Halloween tea, including an owl pizza and spider waffles. What a man. Bathtimes, bedtimes, and then we basically just chilled and read for the rest of the evening!

Friday 15 October – Mylor and Stroud

11.11am, In Mylor, near Falmouth. Andy was doing some filming out on a boat for a lovely client he does some work for, and I went for a walk. Such a pretty part of the coastline, I’m not very good at exploring other parts of Cornwall, so this was a gorgeous morning. When Andy was done, we went for lunch in a cute little pub nearby and then drove up to my sister Claire’s, and hung with Matt for a bit until Claire and kids came back. We hung out and played for a bit until they went to bed, and then had a chilli and some drinks with Claire and Matt.

Wednesday 13 October – Two swims in one day

11.11am, At work. It was a beautiful day so I went for a swim with Mum before work, warming up with a cuppa, and then Andy and I popped over to Sennen after work for another one! Such lovely simple, happy pleasures.

Monday 11 October – Dinner date

11.11am, At work (netball job). I do love having two very varied jobs, it does keep it mixed up and not boring! I picked Andy up after work and we went to Eve and Tom's for dinner. Lovely and chilled and funny.

PS I took zero pics there so here's one of my breakfast instead

Sunday 10 October – Pretty perfect Sunday

11.11am, Eating brunch. Andy and I had a nice start to Sunday, video-calling our friend Ducky in Oz, and then walking into town via the skate park with my nephews. We left them to their skating and went to 45 Queen St where we had a beautiful brunch with the sunshine pouring in through the doors, and lots of familiar friendly faces. Afterwards we strolled back through Morrab Gardens and along the prom, had a quiet hour or so and then went to Perranuthnoe for the afternoon. I had a good beach snooze, then woke up and ended with a cold sea swim, before we came home all salty and sunny and happy. I did a couple of hours of freelance work, then we ate curry and watched football and just had the loveliest Sunday.

Saturday 9 October – Football and friends

11.11am, In town. I'd been for a nice long walk with Pippa, and then into town to do a few jobs. I met Andy and we headed up to Mounts Bay where he had a football match against Constantine. Wow, what a match. It was a lovely sunny day, and the goals were very forthcoming... it ended 7-1 to Newlyn and Andy played a fair bit and played well, so everyone was happy.

In the evening, I went to the Cornish Barn with Ruth, Laurie and Nicky (a re-try of a meal we had the night before Ruth got married), and it was soooo yum and great to hang with these special ladies.

Friday 8 October – Pizza party!

11.11pm, Home and full. I went to Kate's tonight with some friends from netball and we made pizzas and ate a lot. It was a really nice, relaxing evening of catching up, eating, drinking, and just chilling out in Kate's lovely house with good company.

(I only took a photo of my drink!)

Tuesday 5 October – Double netball

11.11am, At work (Wed Magazine). Luckily not netball job today, because my evening was taken up with it. I had Walking Netball after work, which was a fun lovely indoor session, and then zoomed up to Humphry Davy to watch the first 1st (not sure how to write that!) team game of the season. It was against Bodmin and a cracker of a match, although our lovely friend Lauren (1st team captain) got injured pretty early on :(
