Saturday 4 September - Touristing in St Ives

11.11am, Walking in St Ives. We were hanging at Andy's exhibition space today (called Holan) and as it's right on Porthmeor beach, we also got some sand hangs, and I acted like a proper tourist - chips on the beach, fudge, etc. It was a lovely calm beautiful day, which started with a ParkRun with Pip!

Friday 3 September – Lost and Re-found

11.11pm, Getting home from St Ives. Andy's Lost & Found exhibition/zine was only meant to be one night only, but two of his friends who have a gallery space in St Ives saw it and really thought it would be a shame not to show it to more people, so starting tonight it will be on for a week in St Ives too. Andy went over to set it up, and I got the bus over after work, then had a gorgeous evening by candlelight, meeting lovely people and being proud of Andy.

Monday 30 August – Massage Monday

11.11am, Pottering around at home. It's a Bank Holiday today and Andy is away, so I just had a quiet morning, then went into town for a massage in the afternoon at Chapel House. So lovely and relaxing!

Sunday 29 August – A precious morning

11.11am, On the beach with Mum. We met for an early swim, and it was so sunny and gorgeous, we ended up staying down on the beach all morning. Mum brought her paddleboard and she paddled me around, we swam, I got a coffee, read my book, chatted. One of those unplanned amazing mornings.

Saturday 28 August – Go Swifts!

11.11am, At Ruth's house. I was hanging with the boys until about midday when Ruth's sister came to pick them up, then I walked home through the fields in the sunshine. I didn't get much sleep last nitty so when I got home I had a little nap and then watched the final of the Suncorp Super Netball - NSW Swifts v Giants. Swifts are the team I mega-support, and they came out the blocks firing. The were winning most of the game but not by much, but ended up winners! So good! For the rest of the day I got ahead with some freelance work that needed doing, had a swim then went over to Pippa's for her birthday.

Friday 27 August – Looking after the lads

11.11am, At Ruth and James' house, looking after their sons, Ruan and Kit. They're off on a little one-night minimoon in St Mawes, so Andy, Tim and I looked after them. We hung oat the house, had lunch and played, and then went down to Mousehole for the afternoon. Nicky and her kids joined us too and we all played and splashed and had ice lollies. In the eve, Andy went off to Devon/London, and Tim and I had a nice eve with the boys, then watched RuPaul's Drag Race and ate all the sweets and popcorn.

Wednesday 25 August – Boy what a walk

11.11am, Taking netball sessions at Humphry Davy. In the evening, Andy and I went for a gorgeous walk out at Pendeen, having a picnic dinner and watching the sun setting at the top of the carn.

Tuesday 24 August – Time to Move

11.11am, At a summer camp at Humphry Davy School. A few of us coaches from Penzance Netball Club are taking some netball summer camp days, and today was 2 of 3. They've been really fun actually, to get out from behind the desk. I also had a hospital appointment in the middle of the day, then Walking Netball in the evening, then back home for our Penzance Netball Club AGM. Busy day of almost all netball!

Sunday 22 August – Lost and Found

11.11am, At home, having a slow start to the day. I was supposed to be at netball coaching but I wasn't feeling great so my lovely friend Fern took the session for me. Andy had an exhibition starting the afternoon so he was down at 45 Queen Street sorting that, and I was being lazy!

I went down to Queen Street before the exhibition started to help Andy with the last bit of set-up and then my lovely friend Rhian arrived, and we had a catch-up and a drink before she and her daughter had to head back to Truro. More people started to arrive, so the rest of the afternoon was chats, showing off Andy's ace exhibition, and soaking up all the love for him. I'm so proud/impressed he put this one together - it's a body of work from last summer 'the lost summer of 2020' based on a day when he lost his camera and all the pics on it, and then found it/them! He got people to put some words (poetry/song lyrics/narrative etc) to the images, and the result is a really personal, interesting look at last year. He's amazing, not just moving to a new place (Cornwall) but really immersing himself in what that area brings, its people, and how it was affected by the pandemic. It was a long, lovely, gentle, fab evening at the exhibition, well done Andy!

Saturday 21 August – Ruth and James get married!

11.11am, At Ruth’s mum’s house in Porthgwarra. The day had started with a sea swim and bacon sandwiches, then we went to pick up Ruth’s sons and drove out to her mum’s house, where we all got ready. It was a gorgeous morning with a house full of excited people, and minimal dramas (there were a few but all ended OK!).

We left to go to Penzance, where James and all the guests were waiting at the Registry Officer. The ceremony was so gorgeous, a really light-filled bright room, and such a personal ceremony that was absolutely lovely. They did it, they got married! Afterwards, we threw some confetti and took some photos before they couple and Andy went off to get some pictures on the cliffs, and we went back to Ruth’s to get the reception ready. A busy couple of hours but so many hands-on deck and so much loveliness in the air.

James and Ruth arrived at theirs at 3pm, and we threw more confetti, got the drinks and canapés on the go and everyone just relaxed into a beautiful sunny afternoon with tunes and chats and the best feeling. Afternoon relaxed into evening, and we enjoyed delicious wood-fired pizza from the horsebox at Camel Studio, as well as ongoing drinks, speeches (Nicky and I chose to rap a version of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!), cheese, cake, and then the dancing begun, and didn’t stop. There was such a good vibe going on - their friends are just awesome so everyone was having the best time, especially as it was the first big social engagement a lot of people had been to in over a year! I really can’t describe the joy of being at the weddings of one of your absolute besties. So happy.
