Wednesday 13 March - Day 7 in the USA

Current location: Las Vegas
11.11am, Dragging myself downstairs to lie by the pool. After an über-late night, we woke up late and decided not to exert ourselves too much. A hot, sunny day by the pool was about as strenuous as we could manage! So Becky, Rianne and I lay down with our books, some drinks and lots of suntan lotion and did a whole lot of nothing. It was so good!! I don't know how lazy it makes me that one of my favourite days has been lying next to the pool, but it was just so relaxing, hot, sunny, swish, perfect! Andy slept for a lot more of the day, and only appeared when we headed back upstairs to begin our day at about 3pm!

Feeling rejuvenated and sunkissed (burnt?!), we headed back out down the strip for more of a wander, gamble and look at the various hotels. It really is a bonkers place. We ended up with frozen margaritas and hungry bellies so wandered along to Hard Rock Cafe for a thoroughly American dinner. We were all pretty partied out from the night before to be honest, but after a quick nap, we got ourselves back out of bed and into our glad rags, then tried to go drinking again! I've got to be honest, as the night wore on it became more obvious how broken I was from the night before! I even had to convince myself to have a glass of champers (I don't usually take much convincing!). Luckily, Vegas is so massive and over-the-top and impressive, we were quickly immersed in the craziness of the place again, and found ourselves in a bar that was inside a chandelier!

We kept wandering along the strip, pausing to watch the fountains at the Bellagio again, and ended up at the Venetian. It was incredible, it does actually look like Venice (but smaller and shinier!) and we all got our energies back up again, and did some more gambling. Lasting until 3am, we eventually ended up back at the Monte Carlo, and curled up in bed ready for tomorrow, and the five-hour drive to our next destination: Grand Canyon!
