Friday 15 March - Day 9 in the USA

Current location: Phoenix
11.11pm, Asleep! Tomorrow we have to get up at 5.30am to get our flights so we tried to get an early-ish night. Before bedtime though, we had had a whole day and evening of fun. I would say it was one of my favourites, but every single day in America has been one of my favourites, for different reasons.

This morning we woke up in Flagstaff and checked out early, to make the most of our last day in the US (waaah!). Flagstaff is such a cute town, and I wish we could have spent more time here, but we did get a good look around, and enjoyed breakfast (pancakes, finally!) before leaving. Next on our road trip – we've managed to fit so much in! – was a visit to Sedona, which is hippie little town surrounded by gorgeous red rocks. We had a wander around, sat by the beautiful river for a while, ate some ice cream, saw a real life cowboy, sweltered in the heat, the got back in the car to continue our journey back to Phoenix.

Once we got back to Becky's beautiful flat, Rianne and I went for a dip in the pool (yes, this place is awesome and I want to live here!) then packed up all our stuff ready for the next day. We weren't done with Phoenix yet, though! Next up was a trip to the supermarket so I could stock up on American goodies (coconut M&Ms being the highlight), and then we went for drinks in a rooftop bar. It looked out on the whole of Phoenix and we all just felt so relaxed, and happy, and so pleased we had made the trip the US. There was a little bit of sadness as it was our last night but we'd had such a wonderful time, we couldn't really help but be super happy. Great people, great places, great experiences.

And, as we were sitting on the rooftop with a glass of wine in hand, nature delivered us one of the most incredible sunsets I have ever seen. Seriously, it was just ridiculous. We toasted our trip and our friendships, and thanks America for being so bloody awesome, then rounded off the night with a delicious Mexican dinner. What more could you ask for? Thanks USA, you did good.
