Saturday 27 December – Go the Mariners

Current location: Ettalong Beach
11.11am, On a boat. We decided to rent a BBQ boat this morning – like a normal boat, but with a barbecue on it – and go fishing. I'm not a very good fisherwoman (in fact I've only been once before and I didn't catch anything, and we got stuck on a sandbank and had to be rescued. Twice.). However, I love being out on the water, so the six of us got up and got out, and took yummy food with us to barbie, in case the fish weren't nibbling.
Andy and Val both managed to catch some fish (three between them) but we threw them all back in, and tucked into the sausages and eggs we'd bought with us instead!

In the afternoon, Jess and Mitch headed back down to Sydney, while I had a nap on the sofa and then got ready for footy. Andy and I had got tickets for David to go and watch the Central Coast Mariners play soccer against Brisbane Roar, and so off we went to cheer on our home team! The game was so awesome, with a fab atmosphere and bands playing; plus, the stadium is right next to the water and surrounded by palm trees. So beautiful! It was a pretty intense game to watch, and ended up 3-3. The Mariners were robbed! But such a close game made for exciting watching – and there was even a proposal at half-time! Woop!
