11.11am, Hanging out with Fionnuala and Linden. They are lovely friends of ours who have moved to Sydney, and we had a great night at theirs not too long ago (losing track of days). We had a quiche (which they made and brought with them) and then a swim, and then Andy and I had to hit the road towards Byron. Our road trip was fun and great for chats, although sad to see how much devastation the fires have already caused*. I don’t know where we were going, but Andy drove us to Yamba and we stayed in an awesome hotel on the cliff. The evening saw us betting on the dogs (we won!), eating mussels and meeting one of Jess’ friends, randomly, then I logged into work and worked until the early hours.
*I’m writing this two months later, while the fires are still raging, it’s hard to fathom and terrifying to think about for the country and its people.
