Saturday 12 August – One of the best

Current location: Penzance
11.11pm, Vegged out on the couch. Actually, I think we were probably asleep by this point. Andy and I had had the best day, the loveliest day, and we were both cream crackered. We had a quite chilled morning, then decided to go out to Pendeen Lighthouse, and walk across to Portheras Cove. I haven't been in years and thought it'd be a nice spot to show Andy.

When we got there, about 1pm, it was a bit cloudy, but we walked for about 45 minutes and sat on the beach and looked at the beautiful scenery. Then as the sun came out we decided to walk a bit further... The thing with the coastal footpath, however, is once you're on it, you can't really get off it until yu reach your destination. So, four hours and so many steps and views and flowers and amazing sights later, we got to Gurnard's Head. We were shattered and in awe and totally loving this part of the world. We tried to have dinner at Gurnard's Head pub but it was too busy, so we had a beer and some crisps/bread/oil/olives in the garden, and attempted to get a bus back to Pendeen, where our car was.

Sadly, we had missed the last bus, so we walked for about another 45 minutes, before a kind stranger picked us up and took us back (due to some miscommunication about where to drop us, we then had another 35 minute walk back to the car). Such a bloody great day. We bought some prawns on the way home, then ate dinner, had a glass of wine and stretched out our weary, happy bodies.
