Saturday 17 June – Emma's hen do!
Current location: Whitminster, Gloucestershire
11.11am, Setting up some games in the (giant) garden. This morning started with brekkie for all of us (Cat had been super organised and ordered a food delivery of loads of croissants, granola, sourdough etc) and soaking up the sunshine. Then most others went off to play laser tag, while I hung out with the pregnant ladies and set up some games for later in the day.
When they all arrived back, we had a gorgeous lazy lunch in the garden, of M&S platters and lots of G&Ts. Then we played some of the scavenger hunt-style games in the garden, which included blindfolded portraits of Emma, treasure hunt, and other random bits and pieces, in the beautiful sunshine.
As we had an hour or two to ourselves then, a few of us went off in search of the river for a swim. It was pretty funny as, just as I was about to strip down to jump in, a random farmer appeared out of nowhere, ready to tell us off (apparently it's not public land, oops!). We won him over though, and he let us swim on for a while. It was so beautiful.
We got back to the house for a super-quick shower and got ready for the evening, which involved more games and a beautiful three-course dinner made for us by cordon bleu chefs (who also washed up!). We played Mr & Mrs outside, then danced until the early hours in our makeshift disco. Who knew the countryside could be so fun! It was such an epic hen do, and of course that's a testament to Emma and her wonderful friends. Not having phone signal all weekend was kind of awesome too - it meant everyone actually talked a lot more than maybe we would have done. Beautiful place, beautiful people, beautiful weekend.
