Friday 2 August – Down to Yallingup

Current location: Yallingup, WA
11.11am, On our way to Mel's house. Mel is a friend of mine from Narrogin, WA, who I met aged 14, and she is married to an awesome guy, Troy. The two of them live in one of the most massive houses I've seen, have a beautiful dog, and a fab life. Love them! Mel has been super organised and sorted out a weekend down south for eight of us (four of us schoolfriends from Narrogin, and our partners), and so we were headed down to Yallingup for the weekend to begin.

On the way down, the four of us (Andy, Troy, Mel and I) stopped off at the Old Coast Road Brewery, a hidden gem of a brewery which was home to yummy food (hot beef roll) and of course lots of yummy beers to try. The weekend was starting well!

Back on the road, and a couple of hours later we arrived at our home for the weekend: a stunning (and giant) house just outside Yallingup. It was sooooo big and beautiful and within a few minutes we had roaring fire going, a glass of red wine poured, and all four of us were slouched out on the gigantic sofa feeling pretty pleased with ourselves. Over the next few hours, Lauren and Corey turned up, and then Brodie (who I've known since the age of 10) and her boyfriend Scott (who I hadn't met until then). What an awesome bunch of humans!

The boys cooked up an amazing bbq feast for us all, and the wines started flowing until we got to that point in the night where it could have gone one of two ways: to bed or to a late night. Thanks to the ever-so-wonderful game of Sardines, it was a 3am bedtime for all of us. What a fabulous group of friends I have, and thank goodness they all ended up going out with/marrying someone awesome too! So much fun and silliness.
