Saturday 24 November - It's holiday time!

Current location: On a train
11.11am, On our way to Stansted airport to fly to Gran Canaria. In recent years, Jack and Andy have gone to Gran Canaria for a bodyboarding competiton. Last year, Ruth and Nicky joined them and came back with great stories so I decided a while ago that November should mean holiday time for me too.

We were super excited to be going on holiday, especially as work has been so mental recently, and had plans of arriving at the airport, doing some duty-free shopping and relaxing with a glass of champagne before our flight but, thanks to the boys needing to do some last-minute repacking, we ended up rushing through, running into Boots, downing a glass of wine and standing in a queue. Not quite as glam but nothing could dampen our spirits.

When we arrived in Gran Canaria, it was about 7pm and still warm. We'd booked an apartment in a little village called Puerto de las Nieves and were expecting to be in a nice little place we could use as a base for the week while we went off exploring. However, when we arrived, our apartment was absolutely amaaaaazing. It had a huge balcony that got the sun all day, with the sea to our right, the mountains to our left and the little port in front of us.

Sitting out on the balcony that first evening, we played poker, drank beer and listened to the sea, feeling a million miles away from London!
