Saturday 13 October - My sister gets wed!

Current location: Penzance/St Ives
11.11am, Getting home from the hairdressers.
11.11pm, On the dancefloor!
Today my littlest big sister Claire got married!!! It was ridiculously amazing. The day, despite promising rain, delivered sunshine right from when it rose in the morning. Claire and I both woke up early with excitement, then went on a walk with Dad along the prom. Beautiful. Claire was so calm and it was lovely to have a bit of nice quiet time before the madness ensued!

Heading home, we showered, ate breakfast, and headed to hairdressers for a wash and blow-dry before going home for me to finish our styling (no, I don't know how to do wedding hair!). Eating a nice long lunch, we suddenly realised how little time we had left so Claire, Mum, the bridesmaids and I all ran to various corners of the house to sort our dresses and make-up, while Dad kept everyone calm with cups of tea.

Soon, it was time to head to the church, our local Catholic church that we have gone to since birth. Our niece and nephews were in the foyer waiting for a glimpse of Claire and were so excited to see her (Ella thought she was a princess!). Walking down the aisle, everyone had a huuuuge smile on the face – no-one more than Matt, Claire's fiance, who was waiting at the altar with his twin brother, Tim.

The ceremony was gorgeous, with favourite hymns and beautiful words. The page boys and flower girls were so cute and everything was just lovely!! Next up we drove to the beach for photos. Luckily, our 'photographer' was Andy, so there were no annoying poses, or cheesy stuff (not much anyway!) and we all just had fun mucking around on the beach, with obligatory star jumps of course.

With even MORE fun to come, we got to Treloyan Manor, where the reception was, and Claire and Matthad organised a carnival-type affair outside. Think coconut shys, a bouncy castle, games on the lawn and whack-a-rat... Everyone got a chance to grab a drink and have some fun, and Claire and still still hadn't stopped smiling!

The afternoon turned into the evening, which meant dinner and awesome speeches, which turned into night, and party time! Vinny dominated the dance floor, (seeing off fierce competition from a few uncle-type people) the Photobooth saw some excellent fancy dress action and there were lots of friends and family to catch up with. As it neared silly-o-clock and lots of people retired for the night, Andy put down his camera and became embroiled in a ping pong tournament, while I shared out his whiskey and went to bed.

So many congratulations to Claire and Matt, a fun, smiley and lovely couple, and good work on such an AWESOME wedding. Love you x
